Kell Fujimoto, Psy.D. Appointed CAPS Director

The Division of Student Affairs announced today that Kell Fujimoto, Psy.D. has been apointed Director of Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), effective May 22, 2023.

Dr. Fujimoto was born and raised in Hawai‘I where he received his B.A. in Psychology and M.E. in Counseling and Guidance from the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa. He obtained his Doctor of Psychology degree in Clinical Psychology from Argosy University/Honolulu.

His clinical experiences in higher education and college counseling expand from the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa in Honolulu, Hawai‘i; Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah; and San José State University.

His time at San José State University began in 2002 where he has been in assignments such as a tenured counselor faculty, training coordinator, group coordinator, clinical coordinator, assistant director, and director of Counseling and Psychological Services.

His most recent assignment, as the Senior Director of Well-being, Counseling and Psychological Services, had him managing the campus’ counseling center, wellness and health promotion department, and survivor advocate services.
