Graduation Requirements Semester Conversion

How will semester courses count toward my graduation requirements?

Each course will convert from semester units to quarter units

• multiply semester course units by 1.5
  • a 3 unit semester course is worth 4.5 quarter units

• Example: Genetics
  • Quarters: BIO 303 (4 quarter units); Semesters: BIO 2400 (3 semester units)
  • You will receive 3 x 1.5 = 4.5 units for Genetics taken in semesters…
  • But, I only need 4 units of Genetics, what happens to the extra 0.5 units?
    • It will be counted toward your electives, but this may require a petition prepared with an advisor.
