Kellogg Legacy Doctoral Mentoring Program for Faculty Diversity

Cal Poly Pomona’s Kellogg Doctoral Mentoring Program provides guidance and supports and acquaints diverse future faculty with our Cal State mission. Select graduate students develop relationships with CPP faculty and come to campus for several days to learn firsthand what being a faculty member in a CSU is like. They also share their stories with our CPP undergraduates and learn what campus life is like at CPP.

Eligio Martinez Jr. Assistant Professor, Department of Educational Leadership is the Faculty Coordinator for the Kellogg Doctoral Mentoring Program for Faculty Diversity. Martinez brings personal experience as a first-generation college student and extensive experience working with other programs that prepare graduate students for life in the academy. “The Kellogg Doctoral Mentoring Program provides us an excellent opportunity to highlight our campus to prospective applicants and allows us to maintain our commitment to recruiting the most talented and diverse faculty,” said Martinez.

The Fall 2023 first cohort of eight doctoral students from underrepresented backgrounds was selected from 21 applications. These scholars are a diverse and dynamic group joining us from Univ. of Michigan, Univ. of Texas at Austin, Univ. of Georgia, and Washington Univ. in St. Louis.
