International Journal of Teacher Leadership

Information for Authors

Submission Guidelines

Submit all manuscripts, along with a separate cover page, electronically to ijtl@cpp.edu as follows.  Submissions that do not follow these requirements will be returned to the authors, which would delay the review process:

  • All manuscripts submitted for publication in the International Journal of Teacher Leadership must adhere to the following guidelines:
  1. Original and unpublished work that represents the uniqueness of the author’s voice and intellectual contribution.
  2. Not submitted for review to any other publications simultaneously.
  3. No use of AI to generate ideas, organize thoughts, and/or write manuscripts. However, minimal use of AI, such as using the spell check for editing purposes, is allowed.
  • In summary, IJTL values critical thinking, an author's authentic voice, and original ideas. Therefore, AI should not be used to write or revise an author's sentences, paragraphs, and manuscript for publication.
  • Separate coversheet should include the titles, author’s names, affiliations, addresses, phone numbers, e-mail address, and brief biography stating position and degree received for all authors.  In addition, to be considered for publication in IJTL, prospective authors must include the following statement in their cover page:  I have read these guidelines concerning originality and the use of AI above. I certify that I have followed these guidelines in the preparation and/or revision of the manuscript that I have submitted to IJTL
  • The manuscript, beginning with the title and abstract, should not contain authors’ names, institutions, and clues to the authors’ identities in text or references. The author's name should be removed from the document's Properties, which in Microsoft Word is found in the File.

Note:  The Spring issue is usually dedicated to an invited special issue.  As such, the review process may take up to 6 months for the fall general issue.  If you have an imminent deadline to meet, we suggest seeking another publication venue.

Manuscript Specifications

Manuscripts are accepted for consideration with the understanding that they are original material, should be previously unpublished, and are not under consideration for publication elsewhere.  Articles submitted to the International Journal of Teacher Leadership (IJTL) undergo multiple stages of review, including using TurnItIn. Authors may be asked to disclose any previous drafts, versions, or presentations of their manuscript at conferences, meetings, or other venues. After the editors approve an article for publication, it is assigned to a future issue.

Authors must submit manuscripts that follow guidelines in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (7th edition, 2019). Manuscripts must be in Microsoft Word or RTF file format. The editors request that all text pages be numbered consecutively. All text, including title, headings, references, quotations, figure captions, and tables, must be typed, double-spaced, with one-inch margins all around. Manuscripts should be in Times New Roman and with minimum font size of 12. Manuscripts should be no more than a total of 30 pages in length. Submissions grossly exceeding this limit may not be accepted for review. All manuscripts must include an abstract. Abstracts describing the essence of the manuscript must be 150 words or less.
