Theatre and New Dance Department Open Position

Faculty Position Announcement: Part-Time/Temporary Lecturers

The Theatre and New Dance Department at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona (Cal Poly Pomona) invites lecturers to become members of our part-time temporary lecturers pool. Were a small production-oriented undergraduate program with sophisticated theatre facilities, including a 526-seat proscenium theatre and a 67-seat studio theatre. These theatres are augmented by sophisticated shops and technical facilities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • B.A., (required by date of application)
  • University teaching and production experience required, also the ability to function in a collegial manner in an intensive, production oriented undergraduate department.
  • The Department of Theatre and New Dance’s curriculum includes beginning and advanced acting, design, and technical theatre, as well as directing and history. Candidates must have demonstrated the ability to be responsive to the educational equity goals of the university and it’s increasing ethnic diversity and international character.

Preferred/Desired Qualifications

  • M.A., M.F.A., or Ph.D. in Theatre from an accredited university preferred.

Appointments

Part-time, temporary lecturer appointments are usually made for one academic quarter (approximately 11 weeks) at fractions usually ranging from 4/15 to 12/15 of full-time; multiple quarter appointments are possible. Incumbents may be reappointed to subsequent quarters contingent upon funding and favorable performance evaluations.

Placement into a range is based on qualifications and experience. The full-time (15 units per semester) monthly base salaries indicated in the schedules above are prorated to the number of units worked and are paid in six monthly payments for each full semester.
