Flex Cash

Employees who are eligible for medical and dental insurance but have other non-CSU coverage can elect to waive CSU medical and/or dental coverage and in exchange receive up to $140 in their paycheck every month. The payment is treated as taxable income and will be subject to the same payroll taxes (federal, state, Social Security, Medicare) as regular salary.

To enroll, complete a Benefits Enrollment Worksheet via Poly Doc. Documentation is required showing you are enrolled in a non-CSU group plan. This documentation can be medical/dental ID cards, a letter from a spouse’s employer, etc.
If an employee chooses to participate in FlexCash, the monthly after-tax payment is received:

  • You are not eligible to participate in Flex Cash if you are enrolled in medical and/or dental plan as a dependent of another CSU employee.
  • You are not eligible if your coverage is through Tricare, Medicare, Medi-Cal, Covered California, or another marketplace.
 
Tax Advantage Premium Health Plan (TAPP)
 
TAPP allows you to pay required health plan premiums from your salary on a pre-tax basis. Employees are eligible to participate if they are an active CSU employee enrolled in a CalPERS Health Plan. New employees enrolling in a health coverage will be enrolled in TAPP automatically.
