Biography

David Edens is an assistant professor in nutrition and food science at Cal Poly Pomona. In addition, he was the former chef director for the Culinary Arts Programs at the Art Institute of California – Hollywood and department chair of Advanced Culinary Arts at Le Cordon Bleu Los Angeles.

In addition to being an educator, Professor Edens has been a working chef. He has worked for Sean Knight at Pinot Blanc in Napa Valley, and Dickenson’s West Catering in Pasadena. He has also had the opportunity to spend some time at the Fat Duck, as well as cook at the James Beard House in New York.

He has an associate’s degree in culinary arts, a bachelor's degree in physical education, a master's degree in healthcare administration, and a doctorate in higher education.  Professor Edens has published and presented in the area of student success within the culinary student population, for-profit sector, under-served populations, and international students.
