Profile

Dr. Brown is a Professor of Landscape Architecture at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. He previously served as Director of the Lyle Center for Regenerative Studies for 14 years, Interim Dean for the College of Environmental Design, and chair of the University’s Environmental Sustainability Task Force.  Dr. Brown is highly active in the community, serving as a Planning Commissioner for the City of Pomona, and as a board member of Clean & Green Pomona, a local environmental action group.  In his role with Clean & Green Pomona, he currently convenes the Transformative Climate Communities Grant Working Group, co-facilitates Pomona Placemaking workshops, and leads the organization’s urban forestry efforts.  He has been recognized with numerous awards, including the George P. Hart Award for outstanding faculty leadership, multiple community Service Awards from the City of Pomona, Pomona Unified School District, and Community Service and Professional Merit Awards from the American Society for Landscape Architects. 

 

In 2019, Dr. Brown launched Green City Blog, to showcase writing on community resiliency by Cal Poly Pomona Graduate Students.
