CAFE in collaboration with Project LOGRAR is inviting applications for the Fall 2022 LOGRAR Emerging Teaching Professionals (L-ETP) Academy. The goal of the Fall 2022 L-ETP Academy is to prepare novice graduate students without prior teaching or professional development experience to teach in higher education and other professional settings and to support their success at Cal Poly Pomona and beyond.

Participate in a highly interactive 3-day Summer Institute and bi-weekly meetings during the fall semester to explore foundations of teaching and learning and student-centered pedagogy.

Funded by the U.S. Department of Education, the LOGRAR Project at Cal Poly Pomona is dedicated to supporting underrepresented and low-income graduate students attain postbaccalaureate degrees. The LOGRAR Project is managed by the Graduate Resource Center of Cal Poly Pomona. All CPP graduate students who meet eligibility requirements are encouraged to apply.

The $5,000 scholarship is awarded to the student’s Bronco portal to offset the expense of tuition. Students can only receive one $5,000 award during their graduate studies at Cal Poly Pomona.

Eligibility:

• U.S. citizen, permanent resident (Undocumented and international students are currently not eligible to apply)
• Master’s and Ed.D. students enrolled full-time (min. 6 units) at Cal Poly Pomona as of fall 2022
• Previous enrollment in current program of study for a minimum of one semester
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
• Demonstrated financial need as determined by the 2022-2023 FAFSA application (“financial need” is determined by a FAFSA Current EFC between $0- $5,846)

Required Application Materials:

1. Statement of Intent (1000 word max.) that demonstrates some of the following: Career Aspirations; Professional Experience; Qualifications, Reasons for choosing your field of study and how you plan to apply that knowledge practically; Extracurricular Activities; and, Achievements and extraordinary accomplishments. Candidates with a demonstrated commitment to serving underrepresented student groups are highly encouraged to apply.
2. Letter of Recommendation: We are no longer requesting letters of recommendation. When submitting your scholarship application, you will be asked to provide a faculty reference who will be prompted to answer a brief questionnaire that speaks to their familiarity with your work, etc.

Application Process/ Projected Timeline:

• October 1: Scholarship Application opens
• November 17 at 11:59 p.m. PST: Scholarship Application deadline
• November 18 - December 15: Selection Committee Review Process
• Mid-December: Awarded Students Notified

Please note, applicants that meet the qualifications are not guaranteed a scholarship. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered. Please follow up with your recommender to submit their recommendations through the scholarship portal by the deadline. Awardees will receive a credit to their financial aid account; it is not a cash award. Selected students will be asked to submit a Thank You letter upon scholarship offer.
