Vice President Gonzales began serving Cal Poly Pomona on July 1, 2020. She collaborates with students, faculty, and staff to help create a safe and welcoming campus where students can thrive through healthy learning environments.

As head of the Division of Student Affairs and Cal Poly Pomona’s Chief Student Affairs Officer, Ms. Gonzales provides strategic management of our holistic approach to student success and plays a key leadership role in setting and enacting the university programs and priorities aimed at meeting the goals of our Strategic Plan and the CSU-wide Graduation Initiative 2025. She is an advocate for our students on and off campus and works across all divisions and units of the university to enhance the transformational student experience that is a hallmark of Cal Poly Pomona.

Vice President Gonzales leads a diverse portfolio of 20 departments in the Division of Student Affairs that are dedicated to providing a holistic student experience from orientation through graduation. The Division includes on-campus residence halls, medical and mental health services, new student orientation, and cultural centers. The Division also supports 300 student organizations, student emergency and veteran services, and leadership programs.

She has been a transformative leader in higher education for the last 20 years. Most recently she served as Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs at the University of Colorado’s flagship campus in Boulder. Prior to that, she held senior leadership positions at UC Berkeley and Arizona State University.

Ms. Gonzales holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Western New Mexico University and a Master of Arts degree in Educational Management and Development from New Mexico State University.
