Sharing a Message from Chancellor Timothy White

4/28/2020

Dear Colleagues,

Please find attached a letter from Chancellor Timothy White to the faculty and staff of the California State University. I am pleased and honored to join with Chancellor White in expressing gratitude to the campus community for your perseverance in the face of tremendous adversity. Your dedication has been nothing short of inspirational, and I hope you see and feel just how consequential your individual and collective efforts have been for our students and colleagues.

Difficult times naturally breed fear, uncertainty, and concern for the future. Please know that campus leadership is actively engaged in planning a future return to campus in close coordination with the CSU Office of the Chancellor and public health officials. Last week, more than 450 faculty and staff joined our Campus Conversation webinar focused on teaching and learning, one of many positive reflections on our campus journey these past two months and our never-ending efforts to improve. There will be additional opportunities for continued discussion and collaboration on our plans going forward taking place in the colleges, in the Academic Senate, with ASI leadership, and with staff. We will also be sharing details soon on a virtual town hall to discuss shared experiences and topics that are relevant to staff in this new reality.

Our ethos of “learn by doing” has served us well in adapting to these unprecedented and rapid changes and also positions us to continue to thrive. But that kind of progress doesn’t happen by accident. It will take our collective ingenuity and determination to make it a reality. While the road ahead will be difficult, we will meet these challenges together.
