Office of the President

Great News

As you know, over the past several years, we’ve been engaged with the WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC) for our institutional accreditation process. I am overjoyed to report that just yesterday we were notified that Cal Poly Pomona received reaffirmation of our accreditation for a period of 10 years! This is the maximum length of time offered by WSCUC!

This designation is a reflection of our campus-wide commitment to student success and to being an institution that continually strives for excellence in all our endeavors. This achievement demonstrates that our strategic planning efforts, built over years of collaboration across our campus community, are making an impact and that our desire to continually improve serves as our institutional hallmark. I am also pleased to report that in three years, we will have an opportunity to demonstrate progress made on the Commission’s recommendations, including our work related to diversity and inclusion, during a special WSCUC campus visit.

Accreditation is a massive undertaking. The institutional report that serves as the comprehensive basis for the review process was more than a year in the making. More than 80 faculty and staff served on the steering committee and working groups, and countless others provided content and data. The Academic Senate played a critical role in updating relevant policy and engaging faculty in the process. Likewise, scores of faculty, staff, and students participated in the site visit last fall. On behalf of the entire Cal Poly Pomona community, I thank all involved. I specifically want to recognize Dr. Laura Massa and her team in Academic Programs for being the lead on this entire effort.

We’ll soon announce an opportunity to celebrate together as a campus community, but I couldn’t wait to share this wonderful news.

Congratulations to you all!
