One Word to Describe CPP: “Involved. The learn-by-doing enviroment provides resources to help accomplish your goals.”

Jason believes that his persistence has paid off toward his goal to build and design technology. Originally starting at UCLA in chemical engineering, Jason found that the major was not his passion and he withdrew to re-evaluate. After attending community college and working, he realized his love for engineering technology and came to Cal Poly Pomona for its smaller class sizes and hands-on experiences. “My time at CPP has been surreal. I went from delivering pizza to creating custom test fixtures for a magnetic sensors company. I am grateful for the friends that I have made that help me remember that I can be the person I want to be.” As a senior, Jason intends to focus on autonomy and robotics: His group senior project proposal to create an autonomous delivery robot was accepted, and he also hopes to develop skillsets like modifying a golf pushcart with tracking and pathfinding capabilities. “I came to this school just trying to get my degree, but instead found exactly where I was supposed to be.”
