One Word to Describe CPP: “Creativity. CPP has the creativity to help students success and help them explore different career paths or find new hobbies.”
Promise’s experiences as an ESL student remind her that she is “strong just like any other” as she follows her dream to teach at the elementary school level. At a young age, she and her twin brother took on translation responsibilities for their mom and grandparents, helping them understand insurance coverage and doctor appointments. “As they have raised me to think of family, I felt like an educator to them. The more involved I became with my family, the more confidence I have in teaching and knew exactly what I wanted to pursue in the future.” To prepare for teaching, she has pursued leadership and mentorship roles at Cal Poly Pomona leading to a research presentation on culture shock with three other orientation captains at a regional conference. She hopes to pursue a Ph.D. and teach college level courses and pay forward the kindness of her educational role models.
