Robert Hook

Robert Hook

Arthur M. Berman President's Scholar

Major: Organizational Communication

College of Letters, Arts, and Social Sciences

Activities: CPP baseball team (4 years)

One Word to Describe CPP: “Family, because when I’m on campus, it truly does feel like a family environment.”

Robert’s freshman goal to focus on baseball and pursue a professional baseball career changed when the pandemic forced the cancellation of the baseball season. He pivoted to pouring his energy into studying and earning a high GPA. Assistant Professor Mark Generous inspired Robert to realize the importance of communications, and combined with his family ethos to dedicating oneself to work hard no matter how hard something is, he has flourished in tackling assignments and finding tremendous purpose in each course. In his freshman year, Robert received news of his father’s diagnosis of ALS, which has shifted his mindset to cherish every moment and to make his family proud. He has learned valuable time management through balancing family and finishing assignments to allow focus on weekend games, practices and daily conditioning. Like his father and grandfather, he plans to become a firefighter, excited “to serve people on days that are usually looked at as the worst and to be able to help others.”
