One Word to Describe CPP: “Unique. There are so many opportunities that you get just from being a student and being associated with the Collins College’s name.”

Ruth found Cal Poly Pomona’s hospitality program with the help of a high school teacher who encouraged her interest. After a subsequent visit, Ruth knew from the campus scenery and the variety of opportunities that she had selected the right spot for pursuing her dreams. A high school culinary class sparked her interest in food and beverage, and she placed second in a regional competition hosted by Family Career Community Leaders of America organization where she served as president. As a first-generation student committed to challenging herself academically, Ruth values her numerous service, involvement and leadership experiences at CPP. Ruth’s inspiration for achievements derives from her mother, who passed away in 2022 after a years-long battle with cancer. “My mom was the strongest woman I knew and inspired me to be a strong and independent woman who never gives up when things are hard.”
