Kylie Tulley

Kylie Tulley

Shelton Family President’s Scholar

Major: Mechanical Engineering

College of Engineering

University Programs: Baja Society of Automotive Engineers Design Team member, Society of Women Engineers member

As the youngest member of the Baja SAE 2021 design team, first-generation student Kylie Tulley grew as an outstanding mechanical engineer and leader by learning from her teammates. Her father, who passed away in 2020, also educated her this way “about more than just cars; he nurtured my work ethic and fostered my self-reliance. He instilled an unshakeable confidence that I could gain a seat at the table if I was consistently devoted to my passion and willing to work 110% harder than my peers.” In the Society of Women Engineers, her goal is to help educate peers in social justice and empowerment and oversee a mentoring program for transfer students. “Graduating with a degree in mechanical engineering would make my father so proud,” Kylie says. “I want to help other students improve and succeed, so being a President’s Scholar is just one of many ways that I can use my voice on campus to spread awareness on resources for mental health, engineering career development and topics that really matter.”
