Career Outcomes
Program Emphasis
Courses
We offer an undergraduate curriculum divided into two options: Physical Education Teacher Education and General. The General option has exercise science, public health, and sociocultural emphasis areas. These two subplans are designed to meet various student needs and interests. Most who choose the physical education teacher education subplan will obtain a California teaching credential which qualifies them to teach physical education in the state’s public and private schools at the K-12 level.
Learn By Doing
Motor Development Clinic
Learn by doing is embedded in programs across campus, and the kinesiology department is no exception with the Motor Development Clinic. Since 1979, the clinic, located in Kellogg Gym, has been dedicated to improving children's motor skills and helping them fine-tune their cooperation, attention, and social skills. In 2023, the clinic started incorporating a new fitness-based program for adults with disabilities.

Featured Faculty
"According to contact theory, more contact with people with disabilities gives students more belief in their abilities to lead and work with them in their career. Through working [at the MDC], students are prepared to teach the entire population."Chloe Simpson Assistant Professor, Kinesiology & Health Promotion, Co-Director of the Motor Development Clinic
