Residential Intensive Summer Education (RISE)

Experience the Cal Poly Pomona Community with RISE!

Established at Cal Poly Pomona in 2013, RISE is a free, immersive, pre-enrollment summer program for high school students and incoming Cal Poly Pomona first-year students. While RISE is open to all students from all backgrounds in alignment with CSU policies and CPP programming, its focus is on promoting Black student success through workshops on leadership development, academic preparedness, and cultural competence. Through engaging activities and interactive sessions, RISE provides participants with the resources, mentorship, and community connections needed to thrive in higher education and beyond.  

RISE is comprised of the following three cohorts:

RISE UP

RISE UP introduces 9th and 10th grade high schoolers to the skills, knowledge and confidence needed to excel academically and personally.

RISE ABOVE equips 11th and 12th grade high schoolers with the tools and resources to navigate the college admissions process, explore career options and enhance their leadership abilities.
