Experience The Cal Poly Pomona Community with RISE!

Historically, underserved and under-represented students experience a host of challenges, such as insufficient academic readiness, limited opportunities to engage with college campuses, and often lack strong supportive networks.  Established at Cal Poly Pomona in 2013, RISE (Residential Intensive Summer Education) is a FREE, immersive, pre-enrollment summer program for high school students and incoming freshmen, aimed at supporting Black student success at Cal Poly Pomona. Focused on empowering students through leadership development, academic preparedness, and cultural competence, RISE provides participants with the resources, mentorship, and community-building experiences needed to succeed in higher education and beyond. By offering support in areas like career exploration, personal growth, and family engagement, RISE prepares students for a seamless transition to college life, helping them thrive academically, socially, and emotionally throughout their college journey. 

RISE offers a unique opportunity for participants to:

• Experience CPP’s campus culture
• Gain the knowledge necessary for a successful college journey
