Annual CSU Student Research Competition

Host CSU Sacramento's Student Research Conference Website

The California State University Student Research Competition is an annual event that brings together scholars from all 23 campuses of the California State University system. The competition showcases undergraduate and graduate scholarly research and creative activity by recognizing outstanding student accomplishments. Undergraduate and graduate student participants from all disciplines are judged by experts for their oral presentations and written abstracts. Cash prizes will be awarded to students with the most outstanding presentations.

Cal Poly Pomona representatives to the competition are selected from the Annual Student RSCA Conference, held in the first week of March, hosted by the Office of Undergraduate Research in association with URFAC.

Presentation categories include:

  • Behavioral and Social Sciences
  • Biological and Agricultural Sciences
  • Business, Economics, and Public Administration
  • Creative Arts and Design
  • Education
  • Engineering and Computer Science
  • Health, Nutrition, and Clinical Sciences
  • Humanities and Letters
  • Physical and Mathematical Sciences
  • Interdisciplinary

Each entry (oral presentation plus written summary) will be judged on the following:

  • Clarity of purpose.
  • Interpretation of results.
  • Value of the research or creative activity.
  • Ability of the presenter to articulate the research or creative activity.
  • Organization of the material presented.
  • Presenter's ability to handle questions from the jury and general audience.
