Cal Poly Pomona Philanthropic Foundation

Philanthropic Foundation

The Cal Poly Pomona Philanthropic Foundation  was established in 2019 to serve as the leader for the university’s fundraising efforts and will promote, secure and steward support for the university. It is an important piece of the puzzle to advance the university’s mission, along with Associated Students Inc., the Cal Poly Pomona Foundation Inc., and the Cal Poly Pomona Alumni Association (see graphic below).

The Philanthropic Foundation is governed by a board of directors, whose members are tasked with providing advice and counsel to the president on institutional priorities, maintaining fiduciary responsibility for the foundation’s assets and establishing a culture of philanthropy for the university.

The Philanthropic Foundation is a tax-exempt organization that operates as a public-benefit, charitable-educational organization under the provisions of the California Revenue and Taxation Code, Section 23701(c) and the U.S. Internal Revenue Code, Section 501(c)(3). As a recognized auxiliary of the California State University, the Philanthropic Foundation conforms to the regulations established by the CSU Board of Trustees and is approved by the California State director of finance as required by the California Education Code, Section 89900. The university’s administrative organization supervises the Philanthropic Foundation, as required by the California Code of Regulations, Title 5, Section 42402.
