Provost's Bio
Dr. Jennifer Brown is the Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs at California State Polytechnic University in Pomona. Dr. Brown previously served as the Vice Provost and Dean of Undergraduate Education (VPDUE) and a Professor in the School of Public Policy at the University of California, Riverside (UCR). Dr. Brown earned her Ph.D. in Horticulture with an emphasis in Marketing and Consumer Behavior from Michigan State University. She received an M.S. degree in Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences (NRES) with an emphasis in agribusiness and survey methodology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). Her baccalaureate degree is in Ornamental Horticulture from UIUC.
Throughout her career, Dr. Brown has been passionate about institutional success and creating an environment where students, staff and faculty are successful. Dr. Brown leads with authenticity, transparency, and hope. She actively seeks out and considers the feedback from campus and community stakeholders when strategizing future initiatives, and advocates for ambitious goals to advance the vision of the campus. As a champion of student success, she strives to give a voice to those that are not heard, and believes it is our duty to provide transformative education and build the achievements we envision for our students. Above all, Dr. Brown is committed to building alliances to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion to create and foster a more just campus climate.
Dr. Brown is passionate about empowering each member of the campus community to achieve their full potential. Dr. Brown currently lives in Corona, California with her daughter, Lyndsey, and dog (pug) Yui (Yew-E). She is a proud member of Jack and Jill of America and a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
