Update - Cumulative Assessment for Campus Digital Accessibility Course

Date: 01/26/2024

Colleagues,
The Cumulative Assessment for the Campus Digital Accessibility Course has been updated based on feedback. Specifically, clarity was added to the instructions regarding the need to add accessibility tools to your browser prior to starting the assessment. The instructions specifically mention WAVE and Accessible Color Picker. However, if you are familiar with other accessibility tools, you are not restricted from doing so. Additionally, feel free to utilize other Accessibility Testing Tools mentioned during the course as needed.

Additionally, the deadline to complete the assessment has been extended to Friday, 2/2 at 11:59 pm.

Note – The Campus Digital Accessibility Course is required for anyone with rights to publish/update campus websites. The course is located in Canvas.

OTHER REMINDERS
• Publishers need to complete the Canvas Accessibility Course by 2/2/2024 to retain their publisher permissions.
• A score of 80% or better is needed. You have 3 attempts.
• Don’t hesitate to reach out to Laura Carrizales, Carol Gonzales, or Jinah Young if you want to refresh on a specific topic.
• Republish your campus webpage by 1/31/24. This will apply several accessibility and quality improvements made to the templates made by the IT&IP Web Team. Updates include: empty links, Added Slideshow screen reader text, and Added aria-label to slide show

May 26, 2023 - Decommissioning legacy ZFS servers for group websites at www.cpp.edu/~[yourgroupname]/
NOTE: If all your sites are in the Cascade environment, please disregard this message.

The Division of Information Technology and Institutional Planning (IT&IP) is in the process of decommissioning legacy ZFS servers for group websites at www.cpp.edu/~[yourgroupname]/ due to security compliance. The legacy group web space will be disabled on June 30th. After this date, if you need access to your web files stored on the legacy servers, you will be able to connect to \\files-www.cpp.edu\[yourgroupname] to copy your files off. The on-campus ZFS group web space files will be available until the end of September 2023.
Group members with legacy ZFS web content at https://www.cpp.edu/~[yourgroupname]/ were sent an IT Service Desk email with details and instructions. For the website to remain publicly available, the site content will need to be migrated to the new cloud server (Cascade CMS) by June 30th.

April 20, 2023 - The add file content options (Add Content > Entity > File) in Cascade will be updated on Thursday, April 20 from 5:00pm to 6:00pm. The new file content options include file size limits for each file type - image, document, and slideshow video - in order to improve website performance. Publishers will see three options in the Add Content menu: File - Document, File - Image, and Slideshow Video.

January 20, 2022 - The production workflows in Cascade will be updated on Thursday January 20 from 7:00am to 8:00am. The new simplified production workflow for publishers requires fewer steps for publisher approval. Publishers will no longer receive an email about their own workflow and they will not have to assign it to themselves and approve. This update does not affect the production workflow for editors, which will remain the same.

April 29, 2021 - Cascade's publishing servers will be undergoing maintance on Thursday April 29 from 9:30pm to 12am. You will not be able to publish anything during this time to either test or production.

April 1, 2021 - Cascade will have an outage from 5:00am to 6:00am while the vendor does maintance (not an April fools joke).

September 9, 2020 - There may be a brief publishing outage while a change is applied to Cascade during the change window this Thursday 09-10-2020 21:30:00

To support compliance with design, accessibility, and security standards, updates have been made to Cascade that will affect those who can edit and publish content in Cascade.  Specifically, the Cascade “wysiwyg" editor will no longer allow use of the HTML editor.  Prior custom HTML or CSS will remain. If you require updates to prior code customizations, please submit a Web Support Request. Please submit suggestions for features or styles to improve the template by contacting the IT&IP Web Development team at it_webdev@cpp.edu.

Publishers are also asked to capture updates made to cpp.edu websites if they are related to the following topics:  COVID, Coronavirus, tuition, fees, refunds, reimbursements, virtual instruction, and/or remote services.  Specific procedures will be sent out shortly along with a meeting invitation to discuss the procedure and ask questions.

Also, in the coming week, Division Vice Presidents will be provided a report listing persons in their division who can publish to campus websites.  They will be asked to review the list and update permissions accordingly.

IT&IP Security & Compliance, IT&IP Web Development, and Strategic Communications have partnered in making these updates.  For questions, contact Carol Gonzales at carolhg@cpp.edu, Tim Raymond at tjraymond@cpp.edu, or Esther Chou Tanaka at estherchou@cpp.edu.
