Welcome to History at Cal Poly Pomona!

History remains one of the most popular majors in American universities. It serves as an excellent preparation for law school, the foreign service, and positions in the public or private sector that involve research, analysis, and presentation. At Cal Poly Pomona, it is also the place where future secondary school history and social science teachers receive their content training.

We offer two major options -- the general option and the pre-credential option -- and a minor for undergraduates. We also have a Master's Program designed particularly (but not exclusively) for secondary-level school teachers who wish to develop their research skills and deepen their content knowledge of American or World history.

Find out more about our program by browsing the drop-down menu on the left!

NOTE: While the Cal Poly Pomona campus transitions back to more on-campus activities during summer 2021 and Fall 2021, the more effective way to contact History Department Office is through e-mail -- please contact the department chair, Dr. Daniel Lewis, at dklewis@cpp.edu.

Fall 2021 - Welcome Back!

Check out the special video welcome message featuring our History Department Chair, Dr. Daniel Lewis, as well as Dr. Rachel Van, Dr. Michael Slaughter, Dr. John Lloyd and student honor society (Phi Alpha Theta) president Samantha Miranda! As we return at least partially to campus in Fall 2021, we are very excited to be able to welcome you back in person!
