About Me

Dr. Amy Essington is a historian of 20th century America with interests in social history, sport history, and women’s history. Her research includes the integration of sport, particularly baseball, social movements, and race. She completed a B.A. and M.A. in History at California State University, Long Beach, and a Ph.D. at Claremont Graduate University. Amy was an intern at the National Baseball Hall of Fame Library and the Smithsonian’s National American History Museum. Her book, The Integration of the Pacific Coast League: Race and Baseball on the West Coast, is published by the University of Nebraska Press.
