Allyne Winderman is an architect, urban designer, community advocate and educator. She is a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects, inducted in 2013 for her work on affordable housing, urban design and historic preservation.
Allyne worked in the City of West Hollywood for 17 years as the Director of Housing and Redevelopment where she implemented award-winning projects that included the West Hollywood Gateway, Sierra Bonita Apartments and Havenhurst Apartments, both for low-income households with disabilities. She was also responsible for the adoption of the City's Redevelopment Plan and the Housing Element of its General Plan.
Prior to that, Allyne was a Senior Planner with the Los Angeles Redevelopment Agency responsible for projects that included the Little Tokyo Historic District, the Downtown Strategic Plan and the rehabilitation or construction of over 1,500 SRO hotel units. She also worked in the office of Arata Isozaki in Tokyo and Los Angeles on the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art and the Barcelona Olympics.
Allyne has published articles on urban topics in California and Japan. She is a frequent guest critic at LA's colleges and universities.
Allyne received a Bachelors Degree in Art from University of Hawaii and a Masters of Architecture from Columbia University.
