About Me

 

An MFA graduate of the Yale School of Drama in Playwriting, Mr. Solano is a recipient of the NEA/TCG Theatre Residency Program for Playwrights, McKnight Fellowship, NEA, Rockefeller, Ford Foundation, AT&T OnStage, Lila Wallace-Reader's Digest grant, and three Fulbright Awards in Zimbabwe and Colombia.  Of his 30 plays and librettos, all but one has been produced at one theatre or another. He has also written radio dramas and film/television scripts for PBS, WB, and NBC networks, as well as for Universal and Paramount Studios.  Published plays include: “Buenavista”, “Nuevo California”, “Zorro x 2”, “El Greco”, “I Hate”, “Bad Dream”, and “Entries.” Mr. Solano is an associate artist of Cornerstone Theatre and has worked for many years as a Community-Based Theatre artist.  He has been a faculty member at Cal Poly Pomona for 23 years (12 as department chair) and is looking forward to more.
