About Me

Lisa Brownfield is a practicing urban planner, specializing in advanced policy planning. She has over 30 years of professional experience in both the public and private sectors. Ms. Brownfield is based in Pasadena CA; her clients are located throughout the western US but are primarily in California.  Lisa has an extensive expertise in long-term visionary planning (general plans, specific plans), housing, and community engagement. She is well versed in entitlement processes, development/zoning codes, environmental review, and project management.  Ms. Brownfield has authored award winning comprehensive plans, visionary planning documents, and specific plans for clients throughout California.

As a lecturer, Lisa focuses on providing students with technical knowledge and practical skills enabling them to become enthusiastic and integral planning team members immediately upon graduation and employment.

Lisa loves the urban environment; she is an admitted “map geek”. She believes a planner’s role is to help each city’s residents determine the type of place they want to live, work, and play and then turn that vision into reality.

In addition to her Cal Poly and professional planning responsibilities, Lisa is a docent at Pasadena’s historic and “art as architecture” landmark, the Gamble House.

Ms. Brownfield holds a Master of Art, Architecture and Urban Planning from UCLA and a Bachelor of Science, Urban Planning from Cal Poly Pomona.
