Myongjee Yoo

Dr. Michelle Yoo is a Professor at The Collins College of Hospitality Management at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona (Cal Poly Pomona), where she has been a faculty member since Fall 2015. Her area of expertise is hospitality marketing, and she teaches courses including Hospitality Marketing Management, Hospitality Data Analytics, and Social Media Marketing.

Prior to joining Cal Poly Pomona, Dr. Yoo served as an Assistant Professor at Florida International University (FIU). She has taught a wide range of undergraduate and graduate courses, including Hospitality Marketing, Lodging Operations, Service Operations Management, Research Methods and Statistical Analysis, as well as electives such as Casino Marketing, Casino Operations Management, Destination Marketing, and Electronic Marketing. In addition, she has developed online courses for executive management master’s programs.

Dr. Yoo brings extensive industry experience, having worked in strategic marketing, database marketing, loyalty marketing, and casino marketing roles at leading organizations such as The Ritz-Carlton and The Venetian, across both Asian and U.S. markets. Her professional background informs her applied research approach, which integrates theoretical frameworks with data mining techniques.

Her research focuses on strategic marketing, customer relationship management, and marketing analytics within the hospitality industry, with particular emphasis on customer loyalty and consumer behavior. Dr. Yoo has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed hospitality journals and has served as an ad hoc reviewer for academic journals and conference committees since 2009. She has also presented her research at prominent refereed hospitality conferences both domestically and internationally.

Dr. Yoo holds a B.S. in Hotel Administration from Kyung Hee University in Seoul, Korea, and both an M.S. and Ph.D. in Hotel Administration from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV).
