Mary Im

S. Mary Im, Ph.D., CPA, is an associate professor in the Department of Accounting at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the Ohio State University, an MBA from Claremont Graduate University, and a PhD in Accounting from the University of Georgia. Since 2013, Dr. Im teaches financial accounting to undergraduates and masters students at Cal Poly Pomona and has won four UBSS Faculty of the Year awards. Dr. Im's research focuses on financial reporting and governance of not-for-profit organizations. Her papers examine the effects of governance factors on nonprofit donations, and are published in Accounting Horizons and Journal of Business Cases and Application. Outside of academia, Dr. Im enjoys spending time with her husband and three children.
