About Me

Dr. Steve Campbell is an early-19th century US historian with a specialization in political and economic history. A proud Bay Area native, he has taught college-level history classes (both online and face-to-face) in the UC, CSU, and community college systems since 2007. Dr. Campbell has degrees from UC Davis, CSU Sacramento, and UC Santa Barbara, and is the author of The Bank War and the Partisan Press: Newspapers, Financial Institutions, and the Post Office, which was published in January 2019 with the University Press of Kansas. Beyond sharing the company of amiable colleagues and bringing energy and enthusiasm into the classroom, Dr. Campbell enjoys connecting past and present and discussing the more humorous aspects of the college experience with students. In his spare time, Dr. Campbell loves to take naps, eat home-made hummus, follow the news, and ride his bike.
