About Me

Dr. Viviane Seyranian is a Professor of Psychology at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. Her research integrates social and positive psychology to design and rigorously test interventions, programs, and communication strategies that help individuals and groups reach their full potential and live in harmony with the natural environment.

Her work spans a range of domains, including STEM education, faculty development, positive education, and environmental sustainability initiatives. She developed a theory called Social Identity Framing (Seyranian, 2014; Seyranian & Bligh, 2008), which provides a framework for understanding how leadership communication can effectively promote collective action and environmental stewardship.

Her current research explores the intersection of spirituality and well-being, with a focus on spiritual coping, spiritual questing, heart–brain coherence, and equanimity as pathways to enhanced psychological functioning.

Dr. Seyranian’s research has received consistent funding from organizations including the National Science Foundation and the Haynes Foundation. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Southern California after earning her Ph.D. and M.A. in Basic and Applied Social Psychology from Claremont Graduate University, and her B.A., cum laude, in Psychology and Government from Claremont McKenna College.
