About the Exhibition

Don B. Huntley‘s passions include a collection of western art that he shares with the university. Over the years, Mr. Huntley has donated a number of oil on canvas paintings that depict wildlife, landscapes, and buckaroo art to CalPoly Pomona. Those pieces, plus additional paintings and antique items included in his estate, constitute the Huntley Western Art Collection. Well‐known artists in the collection include Bill Anton, Bonnie Marris, Curt Walters, and Ralph Oberg. In this exhibition, themes include “man and beast against the landscape.” While one side of the exhibit displays luscious and vast landscapes, the other illustrates the people that face the limitlessness and the immensity of land surrounding them. Along with facing the wilds of the land, these peoples also faced the buffalo that regularly traversed the land in which they lived.
