Michele Cairella Fillmore

Gallery & Collections Curator

Michele Cairella Fillmore serves as the Curator of the Kellogg and Huntley University Art Galleries, at Cal Poly Pomona, programming up to 10 exhibitions per year. Although most exhibitions are comprised of professional artists' work that bring meaningful art onto the campus, she also facilitates the annual student art exhibition known as PolyKroma, the traditionally annual art competition known nationally as Ink & Clay, and biennial or triennial Art Faculty exhibitions. She is also the Curator of College of Environmental Design Collections managing over 2000 works of art including donated artworks from the Raymond Burr, Don B. Huntley, Col. James Jones and Bruce Jewett Art Collections, and the Channing Gilson Mid-century Industrial Design Collection. Among her primary curatorial goals, lies her interest in exposing thought-provoking exhibitions that makes viewers looking at art, stop, think, discuss...and want to know more. Her curated shows often involve the effects of socio-political change, cast light on ethnic and religious issues, and the reveal the evolution of technology on popular culture. As a member of the College of Environmental Design, she also develops programming that reflects how design, architecture and space define our environment.
