Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM)

Color Our Campus Purple! Wear purple every Tuesday in October to show your support for survivors and help raise awareness. A limited number of T-shirts will be available to those who RSVP for our final celebration.
Scheduled Events
Create, Connect & Raise Awareness
Kick off DVAM with fun games, tie-dye shirts, and activities while connecting with the campus community and learning more about intimate partner violence, prevention, and survivor support. Purple lapel pins will be available while supplies last.
Location: Gallery Lawn by the Museum
Time: 12:00–1:00 p.m.
Self-Defense and Empowerment Class
In partnership with Project Sister, learn practical strategies to enhance personal safety, build confidence, establish boundaries, and respond to potentially unsafe situations.
Location: Building MPR, next to Fitbites
Time: 12:00–1:00 p.m.
Healing: A Self-Care Experience
Take a meaningful pause to focus on wellness, reflection, and renewal. Enjoy essential oil making, rock painting, meditation, coloring, and snacks. The first 25 attendees will receive a free wellness kit.
Location: BSC Andromeda AB
Time: 12:00–1:00 p.m.
Stronger Together: A DVAM Celebration
Celebrate the conclusion of DVAM with dinner, a guest speaker, poetry, interactive activities focused on healthy relationships, a photo booth, and a special appearance by Bronco Billy. Come learn, connect, and celebrate a community grounded in care, respect, and support.

Time: 5:00–7:00 p.m.
Past DVAM Events
- Blow Out Domestic Violence (9/30/2025)
- Attendees enjoyed free Bomb Pops, shared their commitments to ending domestic violence, and painted their ring fingernails purple to show support. The event encouraged conversation, community, and action to help end domestic violence.
- Put a Hole in Domestic Violence (10/7/2025)
- Attendees tie-dyed bandanas, made posters, and shared ideas for ending domestic violence by adding purple sticky notes to the community easel. They enjoyed free donuts while expressing their creativity and support.
- Pieces in Place for Domestic Violence Prevention (10/15/2025)
- Attendees contributed messages to a collective campus mural demonstrating the community’s commitment to ending domestic violence. They also received free DVAM-themed swag from campus partners.
- Stomp out Domestic Violence! (10/21/2025)
- Attendees participated in an evening dedicated to Domestic Violence Awareness featuring interactive activities, food, entertainment, DJ Billy the Bronco, prizes, and a guest speaker. The first 25 attendees received goodie bags, and all participants received raffle tickets for a chance to win special prizes.
