Hello, my name is Aliza Ortega. I am a third-year Communications major, minoring in regenerative studies. I have the privilege of being a first generation, Latina, transfer student. I have had the pleasure of being involved in ASI Student Government for the past two years as both the Elections Chair, and Officer of Internal Affairs.
As the Officer of Internal Affairs my main role has been to connect student leaders to collaborate and advocate on behalf of the student body. I was able to represent the student body in multiple committees such as the Sustainability committee, IRA committee, the MarComm Advisory Group, and Cal Poly Pomona Foundation. With the knowledge I gained in these positions I hope to represent all the students at Cal Poly Pomona and serve as your Student Government ASI President.
As President I would work alongside Daniel Foncello to work towards our primary goals of a more sustainable campus, providing basic needs and resources, and encouraging civic engagement through student representation. We will work to reintroduce the campus to all the students, so we all feel included.
I will advocate representing the underrepresented groups such as first-generation students, transfer students, DREAM students, student parents, and students of color as well as all the students here at CPP.
I look forward to serving as your ASI President.
