Derrick Fang is a seasoned professional who has dedicated over 20 years to higher education advancement.
Currently serving as the Senior Director of Research, Relationship Management, and Analytics at Pomona College, Derrick is responsible for strategically building collaborative advancement solutions across all divisions of the College. Derrick is known for building consensus while utilizing design thinking to implement holistic processes and practical application of technology.
Prior to Pomona College, Derrick’s expansive higher education experience includes serving as the Director of Prospect Analytics and Reporting at the California Institute of Technology, where Derrick co-chaired the data governance committee and led the Prospect Analytics & Reporting team. Derrick also served in various roles at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) earning him one of the inaugural Impact Awards, reserved for staff whose body of work are emblematic of UCLA’s advancement values of ease and belonging.
In addition to his higher education experience, Derrick acts as a thought leader, driving industry vision through various volunteering opportunities with organizations such as the Association of Advancement Services Professional (AASP) and the Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement (APRA). Derrick acted as the inaugural Chair of the Industry Advisory for APRA.
Derrick holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of California, Los Angeles.
