Michelle Ellis Viorato is the Director of Strategic Initiatives and Special Projects in the Office of the Vice President for University Advancement at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. In this role, she advises the Vice President, leads cross-divisional initiatives, manages strategic projects, and supports the CPP Philanthropic Foundation Board. Her work spans institutional advancement, external relations, and board engagement, positioning her as a key contributor to the university’s mission and visibility.
Previously, Michelle served as Interim Assistant Director of Government and External Affairs, where she helped shape the university’s state and federal advocacy strategy, and fostered multi-campus collaborations. She represented Cal Poly Pomona at national conferences and lead initiatives focused on student civic engagement and career readiness. Her leadership has supported strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and the development of impactful programs that enhance student success and institutional growth.
Michelle holds a Master of Public Policy from the UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs, as well as Bachelor’s degrees in Political Science and American Students from California State University, Fullerton.
