Message to Students about Semester Conversion

Dear Broncos,

As you know, beginning in fall 2018, Cal Poly Pomona will convert from a quarter calendar to a semester calendar, with the first day of classes on August 23. The university has long been preparing for this major transition, and it’s important that you are informed and engaged.

You should create an academic plan in partnership with your academic advisor, as well as use the academic planning tools, such as MyPlanner and your Degree Progress Report, to help you stay on track for graduation. Your academic advisor can answer your specific questions about your major, curriculum and pathway to graduation.

The Bronco Advising Center, located on the second floor of the CLA Building, is a helpful resource for general academic concerns, as well as for using the Conversion Guide and other planning tools. Staff are available in person, by phone at 909-869-4600, email, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Also, you should frequently review the most up-to-date information about semester conversion and student resources on the Semester Conversion website. This website has more information about your tools, in-person workshops and FAQs. The email attachments include a helpful info guide and answers to frequently asked questions.

We believe the semester calendar will enhance your education, providing you with more time to study class material in-depth, get to know faculty and classmates, and gain valuable experience in an internship, research opportunity, independent study, or study abroad program.

If you have questions about Semester Conversion, I encourage you to meet with your advisor or stop by the Bronco Advising Center.

Sincerely,

Soraya M. Coley
President
