The Integrated Science option provides a balance of in-depth physics knowledge and quantitative skills with a broad education in the other branches of natural science, the history and nature of science, and strong communication skills for various careers in education and education policy.

The Polytechnic Approach

Receive a strong foundation in physics, with theoretical instruction followed by practical experience and experimentation in labs. Then, take a sampling of courses in biology, chemistry, geology, and science, technology, and society. Participate in educational research or get involved with the Center for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching. Our comprehensive approach and supportive faculty ensure you have the scientific expertise and teaching skills necessary to become an effective teacher and educational leader.

Courses

The Integrated Science Option provides you with a balance of in-depth physics knowledge and quantitative skills alongside a broad education in the other branches of natural science, the history and nature of science, and strong communication skills for a wide variety of careers in education and education policies including secondary math and science teaching. This option is suited to the needs of those planning a career as a secondary science teacher (either middle school or high school), who require a Single Subject Credential in science. The Integrated Science option fulfills state-approved subject matter preparation in Physics for a single subject credential program.
