Provost's Teacher Scholar Program
Program Overview
The Provost’s Teacher-Scholar Program recognizes the breadth of faculty accomplishments beyond the classroom and provides time and resources for faculty to succeed as teacher-scholars. This initiative reinforces the inclusive polytechnic experience by integrating teaching, research, and creative activities.
Faculty engagement in research, scholarly, and creative activities:
• Advances and extends knowledge.
• Enriches teaching and the student academic experience.
• Creates opportunities for creativity, discovery, innovation, and collaborative learning.
Goals
• Support faculty as active scholars and practitioners.
• Encourage integration of scholarship into teaching.
• Foster student involvement in research and creative work.
Eligibility & Review Criteria
Tenure track faculty who meet the criteria of teacher scholars are eligible to apply.
Applications are reviewed at the college level by committees of department chairs, associate deans, and the dean. Criteria include:
1. Active engagement in rigorous scholarship or creative activities.
2. Bringing scholarship into the classroom.
3. Involving students in scholarly or creative work.
Application Process
Your college will provide details on the application process and timeline. Submission deadlines historically fall on the first Sunday in March:
• 2026–27 Cycle deadline: March 1, 2026.
