Step 8: Award Closeout
Closeout is the final step in a sponsored project and ensures that all work and spending are completed correctly. It is a shared responsibility between the project’s principal investigator and Cal Poly Pomona’s research support offices, including Research and Sponsored Programs, Research Integrity and Compliance, Technology Transfer, and Post‑Award Administration. During closeout, the team reviews project expenses, clears any remaining commitments, corrects payroll charges if needed, removes unallowable costs, confirms that all subaward invoices are received and paid, and submits all required final reports and deliverables to the project sponsor.
