(3-week program; Sunday - Thursday)

Program Model

Structured Program Schedule: Summer Bridge (SB) offers a structured program that begins with student checking-in on Sundays. From Monday to Thursday, students participate in various activities to learn more about campus services, access program resources, and connect with peers and staff, helping them build their network at Cal Poly Pomona. On Thursdays, students can check out and leave for the weekend.

To give students a comprehensive experience of both living and commuting to campus, our 3-week program is divided into two components and must participate in both components:

1. Residential Component (Weeks 1 & 2): Students live in the residence halls under the supervision of SB residence life team.
2. Commuter Component (Week 3): Students commute to and from their residence.

Why does the program model change during week 3? We understand that not all SB students will be living on campus during the academic year. Experiencing commuting during the summer helps students plan ahead for the fall term, allowing them to understand what commuting or taking public transportation will be like.

Weekend Stayover and Extended Stay Request: Some students may live outside the local area and wish to participate in SB. In the SB application, students can share any special circumstances that might prevent them from going home for the weekend or commuting during the last week of the program.

Please note, resources are limited and not all Weekend Stayover or Extended Stay requests will be approved. Be as detailed as possible in the SB application to help staff address your needs. If admitted but not approved for stays, students will receive information on resources, such as how to access a bus pass.

Closed Program: For the safety of our community, SB is a closed program. No guests are allowed during the entire 3 weeks of SB, except during check-in and check-out times or with prior professional staff approval. Additional details are provided in the Summer Bridge Information module.
