SAW Overview

Each year, Staff Council proudly hosts Staff Appreciation Week — a dedicated week of fun, engagement, and connection designed to celebrate the incredible people who make our workplace thrive.

Staff Appreciation Week is all about bringing colleagues together to recognize the hard work, commitment, and positive impact by our staff throughout the year. It’s a time to step away from the daily routine, build community, and enjoy being together.

The week features a variety of beloved traditions and engaging activities, including our annual Staff-on-Staff Basketball Game, a hosted appreciation lunch, a sweet Ice Cream Social, and a lineup of workshops led by talented campus colleagues. From friendly competition to creative expression and shared meals, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Staff Appreciation Week reflects our commitment to make people feel valued, connected, and appreciated — not just during this special week, but all year long.

We look forward to celebrating together!

FAQs

Staff Appreciation Week, known as SAW, is an annual celebration and recognition of Cal Poly Pomona's staff employees hosted by Staff Council. Staff will have a chance to attend an annual luncheon and ice cream social, participate in a basketball game and a variety of workshops created just for SAW!

SAW is a special time to honor the contributions of our staff, including state‑side employees, MPPs, Enterprise (Foundation) staff, and ASI staff. SAW events are designed for these staff groups and unless specifically stated, does not include faculty, student employees, or student assistants.

SAW is scheduled towards the end of May after graduation and before the start of the summer semester.

Employees who are interested in helping during SAW can host a workshop or join as a general volunteer. Please fill out this form: SAW Host and Volunteer Form.
