I AM FIRST Mentorship Program

About This Program

In the I AM FIRST mentoring program, CPP first-generation college students are matched with a faculty or staff member who also identifies as a first-generation college graduate. The shared experiences of being first-generation foster a sense of belonging and create a pathway to success for CPP students.

I AM FIRST Mentors: 

  • Successfully help students transition into CPP
  • Promotes intentional academic and career planning
  • Make a positive difference in someone's life
  • Create the bridge that connects the institution with the students
  • Moulds the next leader 

I AM FIRST Mentees: 

  • Access one-on-one mentoring
  • Connect and build lifelong relationships with faculty and staff
  • Receive specialized support and services
