Application Information


The program is using the on-line centralized internship application, DICAS, which may be accessed at, email DICAS will be available after Dec. 6, 2018, for the Spring 2019 Match. The on-line application must be completed for our program by 11:59 p.m. Central Time on Feb. 15, 2019

When completing the application form, applicants must include the name and contact information (specifically an email address) for each reference. This will trigger an email message requesting completion of a reference form. The form will be completed online.

Applicants who apply to internships using DICAS will be asked to complete a personal statement. Questions to be addressed in the personal statement for Cal Poly's internship include:

  • Why do you want to enter the dietetics profession?
  • Why did you choose this internship?
  • Discuss experiences that have helped to prepare you for your career.
  • What are your short-term and long-term goals?
  • What are your strengths and weaknesses or areas needing improvement?

Please limit your personal statement to 1,000 words.

Cal Poly Pomona Application Requirements:

Provide only three letters of recommendation.
* one must be from an RD/RDN
* one must be from a professor

Recommendations should be current, preferably submitted to DICAS within 6 months of application.

Please list science classes, if possible.
Chemistry, organic chemistry, biochemistry, biology, microbiology, genetics, anatomy/physiology.


Since we have a large number of individuals who read your packet, it is necessary for us to require a signed release allowing the packet to be circulated. The Release Form is available from this website. Please send this form directly to Cal Poly Pomona only with your check.

If you have completed your degree more than five years previously, include the Recency of Education Form, also available on this website.


Please use the checklist below for material submitted to Cal Poly Pomona Dietetic Internship. Material must be submitted by Feb. 15, 2019, and include the following:

 $75 processing fee, made out to the Department of Nutrition and Food Science, Cal Poly Pomona.
 Authorization for Packet Review.
 Recency of Education Form, if applicable.

It is suggested that you do not use UPS, since they do not place a postmark date on the envelope. Express Mail, Fed Ex or any method that guarantees delivery to us within three to four days past the postmark deadline is best.  Please check other mailing options so the postmark date is readily visible. Registered and regular mail may take up to two weeks to arrive. Select your mailing option carefully.  All application materials must be received by our department by February 28 for the application to be considered.

Due to the number of applications we receive, we cannot confirm receipt of applications, forms, or fees by phone or email, however, if you include a self-addressed, postage-paid postcard with your fee and Authorization form we will mail that back to you as a confirmation of receipt.
