Ocean Global Change Biology Research Experiences for Undergraduates

Location: UC Santa Barbara

Position: Internship

Duties: The goal of the OGCB REU program is to provide students with a supportive environment in which to conduct a student-led project on the impacts of environmental change on marine ecosystems and organism. UCSB has a world-class research faculty and a community of people that support and foster undergraduates in research experiences. In addition to a focus on standard research practices (e.g., experimental design, hypothesis testing, and data analysis), OGCB participants will gain valuable training in areas of professional development, science communication, and building leadership skills, which they will be able to practice during group activities and the end-of-program colloquium. Furthermore, the location allows participants to interact with other groups on the West Coast in order to provide students with a broad-based experience in marine science (e.g., the NOAA Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary located on the UCSB campus).
