Broncos Bike Pomona 2026

Grab a bike and register for Broncos Bike Pomona, a community bike ride hosted by the Alternative Transportation Committee (ATC) on April 17, 2026. Riders of all experience levels are welcome to join and explore Pomona on two wheels. Participants have the option of a 6-mile loop or a 13-mile loop connecting to the Metro A Line station. Some bikes will be available to borrow. It’s a great opportunity to learn safe biking routes, meet new people, and experience the community. Follow the link below to register.

What: Broncos Bike Pomona

When: Friday, April 17, 2026 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Who: Students, staff, faculty and community members are all welcome!

Where: Meet at Bronco Commons. The short route will loop at John F Kennedy Park, and the long route will loop at Pomona North Metro Station. Both routes will end at the Student Services Building.

Why: Broncos Bike Pomona brings people together, promotes safer and more sustainable ways to get around, and helps our campus and community feel confident exploring Pomona by bike.

Broncos Bike Pomona is on Friday, April 17, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. All participants need to arrive at Bronco Commons by 9 a.m. for check in and to complete the event waiver. Riders will leave campus around 9:30 a.m. and return to campus around 12 p.m.  

The starting point is Bronco Commons at Cal Poly Pomona. The ride will return to the Student Services Building/Lot C. 

The event is open to the public, including Cal Poly Pomona students, faculty, staff, community residents and community partners. 

The event is free of charge. 

ActiveSGV will have some e-bikes available for free use during the event. You will need to leave a photo ID with them to check out a bike. Be sure to show up early to secure one as they are available on a first come, first served basis. 

The Broncos Bike Pomona ride begins at Bronco Commons on the Cal Poly Pomona campus, where riders will gather before starting the group ride. Participants have two options a 6-mile loop for a shorter ride or a 13-mile loop for a longer ride. The ride is designed to be welcoming for riders of all experience levels. The Bike ride will conclude at the same place for both loops on Cal Poly Pomona's Campus at the Student Services Building.

The ride is 13 miles long, roundtrip. Overall, the ride is relatively flat, with a short hill and some gradual uphill portions heading to the Pomona North Metrolink station.  

The event will also include a shorter route that is 6 miles long, roundtrip.

Yes, the route includes 3 rest stops going up to the Pomona North Metrolink station, including the option for participants to return to campus after the first stop. For the roundtrip full route, there will be 6 stops total, including a stop at Daily Donuts on the way back to campus.

The registration deadline is 9:20 a.m. on April 17. All riders must be registered in person by that time, as the ride will leave promptly at 9:30 a.m. 

We suggest arriving promptly at 9 a.m. to ensure you have time to complete the paperwork for borrowing a bike. Be sure to bring ID. 

The total length is 6 miles round trip, about 1 hour in duration.  

13 miles roundtrip, about 2 hours in duration.  

Restrooms are available at JFK Park for the short and long routes. For the long route, restrooms are also available at Ganesha Park and Daily Donuts.

We would suggest bringing a water bottle, helmet, sunscreen, snacks.

Bikes will be available on a first come first served basis. We are partnering with Active SGV to allow participants to use 10 of their bikes. To borrow a bike with Active SGV, bring your ID. It will be returned to you when you return the bike.  

The Annual Town and Gown ride has turned into Broncos Bike Pomona. We wanted the name to change so that it highlights our campus and encourages even more of the CPP Community to ride with us.
