Getting to Cal Poly Pomona is easy. Please see detailed directions for air, road, and public transportation travel.

Accommodations are at Kellogg West Hotel at Cal Poly Pomona.

Kellogg West Hotel’s address is 3801 West Temple Ave., Bldg 76, Pomona CA 91768.  Please DO NOT book your own room unless specifically directed to do so.  Rooms will be booked by the retreat team for participants who register by June 15, 2023. 

The program is at the Collins College Bldg 80 at Cal Poly Pomona.

Directions to The Collins College

We are located on the Cal Poly Pomona campus. From University Drive, follow the signs that read The Collins College and Kellogg West Conference Center.

From the 210 Freeway traveling East and the 57 South: Take the 210 Freeway to the 57 south, exit on Temple Avenue, make a right. Proceed west on Temple Avenue to University Drive. Turn right on University Drive, proceed north. At Horse Hill Drive, turn right. At the fork in the road, turn right and proceed up to The Collins College.

From the 57 Freeway traveling North: Exit on Temple Avenue, make a left. Proceed west on Temple Avenue to University Drive. Turn right on University Drive, proceed north. At Horse Hill Drive, turn right. At the fork in the road, turn right and proceed up to The Collins College.

From the 10 Freeway traveling West or East: Take the 10 Freeway to the 57 south, exit on Temple Avenue (make a right). Proceed west on Temple Avenue to University Drive. Turn right on University Drive, proceed north. At Horse Hill Drive, turn right. At the fork in the road, turn right and proceed up to The Collins College.

Travel Reimbursement Procedure

IMPORTANT: ALL participants must submit a travel approval request ON THEIR OWN CAMPUS via Concur BEFORE attending the retreat. If your campus does not use Concur, please follow your campus's travel pre-authorization procedure.  We cannot reimburse travel that has not been pre-approved.

The Kellogg West hotel will be paid for directly; you will NOT have to pay for it up front or be reimbursed for hotel expenses if you register by the June 15 deadline. We cannot guarantee hotel payment if you register late.

In addition to covering the hotel expense, we will reimburse up to $500 for allowable travel expenses (e.g. airfare, mileage, parking, etc.). Please save all receipts. See the CSU policy on allowable travel expenses (pdf).

Dinner-on-your-own for Wednesday August 2 is NOT reimbursable.

Notes on reimbursements, due to the fact that the retreat is supported by federal grant funding:

  • Expenses without receipts will not be reimbursed
  • ALCOHOL WILL NOT BE REIMBURSED UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.  Meal receipts that include alcohol will not be reimbursed
  • Expenses for entertainment and activities not directly related to retreat programming will not be reimbursed
  • Expenses for guests, partners, family members, or others will not be reimbursed

Detailed reimbursement instructions will be posted on this website in July 2023.
Reimbursement documentation must be submitted no later than by August 30, 2023.

Hotel Information

  • Kellogg West hotel reservations will be made by the retreat team for retreat participants who have completed the retreat registration by June 15.
  • See Kellogg West’s website for detailed information about amenities and hotel policies.
    • Kellogg West Hotel does not allow pets. Registered service animals are welcomed.
    • Parking is included. You will receive a parking pass when checking in.
    • Kellogg West does not have a full-service restaurant or bar. Ample food and entertainment opportunities are available within easy driving distance.
    • Kellogg West has a small fitness room and swimming pool and spa. Guest passes may be purchased for $10 at the campus recreation facility, the BRIC.
    • The entire Kellogg West facility AND Cal Poly Pomona campus is non-smoking.
  • The host hotel, Kellogg West Hotel is located within easy walking distance of the Collins College of Hospitality Management, where retreat meetings and activities will take place. We are NOT ABLE to reimburse hotel accommodations other than Kellogg West.
  • Cal Poly Pomona is located within 10 to 20 minutes of driving distance from Pomona, San Dimas, La Verne, Chino, Covina and Claremont where many restaurants are found.

Accommodations

Participants with specific accommodations will have the opportunity to provide the information during the registration process.

Special Requirements

  • Participants with special needs or who require specific accommodations (medical, dietary, religious, etc.) will have the opportunity to provide the information during the registration process.
  • Please contact the Retreat Team with questions or concerns about specific needs.

Family

  • Participants are welcome to bring family (broadly defined) or guests. Participants are responsible for any extra costs incurred for travel, accommodation, or meals for family or guests.
  • All retreat participants are expected to fully engage in meetings, discussion sessions, and activities. Participants are encouraged to engage in social activities. Family members may join social activities and are responsible to cover their expenses.
  • Pets are not permitted at Kellogg West hotel or in retreat activities. Registered service animals are welcomed.
